Work is continuing to move forward at 960-964 Parker Street! Interior asbestos abatement is now 100% complete, while exterior asbestos abatement is approximately 67% complete.

The attached photos offer a look at the building’s current condition and the progress made through the abatement process.

With interior abatement complete and exterior work well underway, the project is moving closer to the next major milestone: demolition of the existing building. Before demolition begins, the team will need complete the necessary utility cut and caps to safely prepare the site.

Big changes are coming to the Mildred Hailey Apartments redevelopment area! As we move forward with our mission to revitalize the community, here is what you need to know about upcoming construction.

Demolition and Construction

Since June 1st, 2026, significant activity has been underway around the redevelopment footprint:

• Building Demolition: The Boston Housing Authority buildings located at 960, 962, and 964 Parker Street will be demolished.
• Site Preparation: This demolition is necessary to clear the site for a new 60-unit building to be constructed by Urban Edge Housing Corporation.
• Infrastructure: The work also includes the creation of a new roadway connecting Lamartine Street to Parker Street which will be starting after Demolition is completed.
• Fencing: A construction site fence will be installed around the 960-964 Parker Street addresses and the adjacent surface parking lot to ensure safety during the demo and construction process.
